BC Staycation Trend Boosts Summer Travel
TIABC
In a recent interview with Business in Vancouver (BIV), TIABC CEO Amber Papou said British Columbia is experiencing a strong “staycation” trend, with more residents choosing to vacation closer to home.
She noted that geopolitical uncertainty, ongoing global conflicts, reluctance to travel to the United States, and rising travel costs are encouraging more British Columbians to explore destinations within the province. While the trend is expected to provide a welcome boost for local tourism businesses and communities this summer, increased demand may also contribute to higher domestic travel costs.
