Background and Context
Within the complex, ever-changing and ultra-competitive global tourism landscape, a buoyant visitor economy cannot be taken for granted. Reliable, consistent and ongoing investment into attracting leisure visitors, business travellers and conference groups, and into improving the visitor experience, is vital to a destination’s long-term success and community health and well-being.
The advantages destinations enjoy via a dedicated funding stream such as MRDT cannot be overlooked. With this understanding, TIABC has recently revised its policy on MRDT. The policy includes an analysis of the current MRDT program, and eight (8) strategic policy recommendations.
