Industry Leaders Respond to Governments Position on Temporary Foreign Workers Program

In response to the federal government announcement regarding temporary relief measures to the Temporary Foreign Workers (TFW) Program, industry leaders from TIABC, the BC Hotel Association (BCHA) and BC Destination Management Organization Association (BCDMOA), have submitted a formal letter to the Premier and provincial officials highlighting the critical role the TFW Program plays in sustaining rural tourism businesses, emphasizing that these workers are essential for maintaining operations.

The changes will be in effect from April 1, 2026, to March 31, 2027 and are particularly important for tourism and hospitality businesses, especially those in rural and remote communities where ongoing labour shortages continue to impact operations.
